    About the Artist

In 2024 his self-portrait painting “The Ghost Painter” was added to the permanent collection of the National Museum of American Illustration. The painting is a parody of Norman Rockwell’s “Triple Portrait” and depicts the ghost of Rockwell painting Tim McDavid. It also tells the story of Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, when his friend Pierre Mion (3-time national racecar champion #59) became Rockwell’s only ghost painter, and the common link between the three painters.

    Tim McDavid

Conservation award winning artist, outdoorsman, entrepreneur, and educator with a love for adventure and nature that led to traveling to over 105 countries. Inspiration to paint nature came easy through adventures around the world: snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, diving the Blue Hole, elephant trekking the jungles in Thailand, sailing Cape Horn, hiking the World Heritage sites in Australia, riding camels in the dessert of Egypt, fly fishing Patagonia, and ice climbing glaciers on Mount Blanc. On four separate safaris to Africa, he canoed the Zambezi with hippos, traversed Victoria Falls on foot, camped in the remote Okavango Delta in Botswana and filmed a documentary Artist in Africa.
